Canal Art

Hi there, its me again,
well I'm getting on pretty well with all these bloggs !!! - I think really I have tooooooo many crafty things on my mind.........

So hear goes another blogg, this time on a long time love of mine....... Canal Art

I have tried for many years to master this art, only ever touching on it, never actually finishing a piece, oh I tell a lie, I have vaguely done one piece which was a hobbin foot, unfortunately I like those too, I know have 3, keep wanting more, but i just have to say no....... but it was not well Canal Art more like had Rosemaling on it too, I will probably do a blogg on that at some point......

here are some pics of what i have done so far

you will probably see these on the other blogg, but wanted to add it.

The book on Canal Art that I have just purchased is called Roses And Castles by Anne Young, It has really helped me move that little bit further to learning this fantastic art of Roses and Castles.

This is the 2nd item a planter I have completed using the Canal Art technique.

It feels like it has took me years to get this far, now I just need to practice, practice, practice.

Below is the first piece of art, well chuffed with this one.
Below are again practise pieces.

8th September 2013

Been out to car boot today and picked a few items up to practise painting on, done a clipboard (which was new) and a little brown jug.

Yup I can see where I am going wrong with these 2 items, I know i have to keep practising so that I can correct them,

Thank you for looking :)

Don't know if i like this red rose - but will keep an open mind :)

This is a better red rose >>>>>>>>>>>>>

New for 2017

Hi, it is now September 2017 and I have started to pick my paint brushes up again.  I have painted a couple of items.  I would really like to go on a Canal Art painting course sometime next year but for now i will keep practicing.

I like to paint on all sorts of surfaces even though they are not traditional.

First to paint on this year are records - I have done a pair.
